Skype asked us to do a little promo film for the snazzy new feature that allows you to video call people straight from your TV. We decided to have a bit of fun with the type of things people might do with a giant Skype screen sat in their living room. Using a 360 degree set we created 2 rooms from the opposite sides of the world. We changed the lights from one scene to the next and had our actors run around like mad changing outfits and dragging on props. It’s a bit abstract, and you can see the camera track and crew (look really close in the TV’s camera view) but that’s all intentional. If it’s not real, we didn’t want it to pretend to be anything other than what it was, a promo.

Driven By You
After a wet week in Devon, I’ve watched more TV ads than normal, and I’ve come to the decision: nothing is as good as Brian May’s love letter to Ford. Come on, find me a better telly ad than this, I dare you.
TV’s Chris Boardman
Today, we at Poke bid a fond farewell to TV’s Chris Boardman. During his year break from uni here at Poke we have worked him to within an inch of his life. Which is of course how all student placements should be handled. He’s heading back up north to finish his learnings (see: slacking). We dearly hope he graces our door again, so we can work him even harder. He’s responsible for the speedy development of the interactive map we created for the Design Museum and various other behind the scenes development breakthroughs. We put together this video installation down in the mess hall to honour the chap. See you soon Boarders!
Digital UK Online Campaign
Here’s a banner campaign for we did for Digital UK. Letting people know their old beloved tellys from the 70s can be converted to digital. We did the motion graphics design and 3D animation direction.
